Let’s Glow!
Hello, I’m Lindsley Allen, and welcome to my new website!
Here’s a little about myself… I was born in Miami, FL, and grew up in a small town in Hanover, PA. Dance has always been my first love. I started dancing at the age of 3. They called me “Peanut” because I was the littlest one in the room with the biggest smile and spirit. Dance is in my DNA. Both of my grandmothers were dancers; “Mom-Mom” was a cabaret dancer and my “Grandma Jane” won a Charleston championship back in her day and continued dancing well into her late 80’s giving much of her golden years and financial support to the “The Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center”. They were both big fans of mine and I miss them dearly.
I grew up doing everything physical: gymnastics, cheerleading, baton twirling but dance made my spirit sing more than anything. I started taking ballet and jazz classes in Hanover from dance teacher, Jayme Hull, who instilled great discipline and technique coming from The Joeffrey School of Ballet and I had the great experience of studying with the ballet company in New York during Sumer Intensives.
I graduated high school and went to Town State University for a year. I chose dance as my “elective” and quickly realized dance had my main focus and heart and the typical “college life” was not for me. I auditioned for Philadelphia University of the Arts where I finally “found my people” - like minded creatives that had a drive to explore their artistic abilities. I was accepted immediately into the arts college and transferred as soon as I could. I have great memories of my years in Philly, it accelerated my training and I made life long friendships. They were pivotal years that enriched my technique and encouraged my creative spirit. I graduated from Philadelphia University of The Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet and the same week won a Joe Tremaine Dance Scholarship that transplanted me to Los Angeles. My life was at a cross roads and I made the life-changing decision to listen to the whispers of my heart, break up with my small town fiancee and leap at the chance to become as a professional dancer.
“Livin’ The Dream’ has been filled with great triumphs, low disappointments, and everything in between. One of my greatest joys working as a professional dancer has been traveling the world and meeting so many other creatives and dancers who have become my “tribe”. I love what I do and do what I love and I’m incredibly grateful for the experiences and people on this path. My life is rich and the stories are vast, more than anything, I hope my journey and life lessons inspires others.
My purpose is to inspire, connect and create projects that have a positive impact on the world. I believe in the ability of artistic expression to heal the human spirit and in turn reflect and touch humanity. My mission is to educate, motivate and mentor aspiring dancers thru my own experience in the entertainment industry and to pass along the valuable lessons from the many masters I’ve worked with along the way. It’s been an incredible journey and I look forward to many more adventures in this beautiful thing called LIFE. It fills my soul to create, collaborate, and celebrate all in the name of dance. I hope you'll join me, LET’S GLOW!
